What I've been up to...

Monday was my birthday and I went to dinner with my Uncle Michael and Brenda. After dinner, Brenda and I went to see Harry Potter. I really liked it. I think they did a wonderful job. I'm really excited for the next one. :)

On Tuesday, Uncle Mike and Brenda took me to Elitches. I met Brenda's brother Greg, her two nephews Braiden and Zach, and her cousins Martin and Aaron from Germany. It was a lot of fun! I haven't been to Elitches in a while and the last time I went I didn't go on many rides because the friend I was with didn't want to go on any of the fun ones. I got a wicked sun burn but it was still tons of fun.

On Friday I went to Salida with Ashley and her parents to visit her grandparents and cousins. It was a lot of fun! Salida is a beautiful place, too. On Saturday we went on a little hike and saw the beautiful waterfalls up there and Ashley's grandma showed me around the town a little bit. Later on Saturday we had a birthday party. We were celebrating three birthdays at once! Mine, her grandma's, and her cousin Josh's. We had a barbeque and cake. :) Sunday, we came home.

My grandma is from Creede and she said that Salida is about halfway to Creede. I really enjoyed being in Salida and seeing how beautiful it was that someday I would like to visit Creede, too. :)

Some pictures from Salida (more to come).
I forgot to pack tennis shoes so I went hiking in flip flops, and I made it! That's how awesome I am. Haha.

Josh throwing rocks in the river.

Horses that Ashley's grandparents were keeping. I got to pet and feed them. I have never done that before! It was cool. :)
Ashley has pictures of me feeding them, on her camera. I'll have to post them when I get them from her. :)

Other than all of that I've just been hanging out, reading, and getting ready for school to start. We go back in less than a month. I really can't believe it!

I didn't get the job at Deb.

I really wanted it.

I hate this...

...Update...

I have been home for a little over a month and so far my summer has been great. I have been working on a couple of cleaning projects, including a complete over haul of my bedroom. I am also looking for a job. I have had two interviews since I have been home. One at Dick's Sporting Goods store, and one at Deb Shops, a clothing store in the mall. I didn't get the job at Dick's (bummer days) and I'm still waiting to hear back from Deb's. I really want that job! Keep your fingers crossed and keep me in your prayers, please.

(If anyone needs a babysitter, call me!! ;])

I went to Arvada a few weeks ago to visit Ashley and had a lot of fun.

I have also been reading (although not as much as I would like). I'm still working on Jane Eyre, but I have a few new books to add to the list. :)

My brother bought himself a new rat (for me to fall in love with and make me want another one lol) after Alfalfa died. He named her Peaches and she is very cute. She is tan and white.

(Her eyes really aren't red...that's just the camera flash!)

There really isn't anything else to say. Things are pretty low key and boring during the summer. :)

I am almost unpacked! Unpacking is so much harder than packing. Lame!

I found out my grades today, and I am excited about it!
Art: C
Composition: B
Poetry: B
Math: B
US History: A

I am pretty stoked. I haven't got anything higher than a C in Math since Middle School...I really suck at math. I also haven't got an A or enjoyed History until this year! :) I'm not too happy with the C in Art, considering the amount of work I put into that class, but at least it's over and I never have to deal with it again. :)

Hooray!

Hooray for finals being over! :) I had my last two finals this morning; Poetry at 7 AM and Math at 9:10 AM. I think they went well, I am feeling pretty confident about all of them.

I finished packing not too long ago. That was...fun. Hehe.

It is weird, because I still feel like I have homework to do...Haha.

Tonight, I plan on watching Rent with Ashley and sleeping, and doing absolutely nothing else. ;)

2 down...2 to go...

I am done with my U.S. History final (yesterday) and my Art History final (today)! Yay! I am pretty confident about the History test. I have done really well in that class all semester, so I am not too worried. I'm not sure about the Art History test; I have struggled with that class a lot but I studied hard and I felt a bit more confident about this exam than I have about any of the other ones...so I guess that is a good sign.

I have two more finals tomorrow. Intro to Poetry at 7 AM (eeeeek!), and Math at 9:10 AM. This should be interesting.

I still have to finish packing too...ugh.

I finished She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb. It was pretty good...some parts of it were a little weird/awkward, but mostly good. I was surprised at how well the author captured the main character's voice and how well he personified her. I was impressed, considering he is a male author and she was an overweight female. Now I'm reading Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte. It's one of those "classics" that you're supposed to read, but I never got the chance to.

Just a Quick Update

We're getting closer to finals so classes are getting a bit harder to manage (if that's even possible). I still can't believe I only have three weeks of school left. It is so hard to believe that I am almost done with my first year! I had another test in my Art History class last week. I decided that since I obviously wasn't preparing for the first two in the right way that I would do something different. I killed myself studying and preparing for it and still only got 76. It's not terrible, but considering the amount of work I put into it I'm a little peeved about it. BUT on the other hand, I got a 91 on my US History test! :]

My Uncle Mike and Brenda are going with me to see Wicked in the Fall! I'm so excited! :D

I'm pretty sure I have a summer job. I have a applied to quite a few places but I'm really hoping to go back to Old Navy. I talked to my manager, Mark, on Friday and he said that he's trying to get permission from the company to reactivate my status to Seasonal so I can work on my breaks from school. I guess with the new system, they can't add new Seasonal employees unless it's during the Christmas holidays. So, hopefully he'll be able to sort that out so I will have a job. :]

I finished City of Bones by Cassandra Clare. It was really good! It kept me guessing and the action was always constant so it kept my attention. I loved it! I cant wait to read the next one, City of Ashes. Until I get that one, I am reading She's Come Undone by Wally Lamb. So far it is really good. It's kind of a "coming of age" story. It starts out when the main character is 10 and follows her through out young adulthood. I'm really enjoying it so far.

I don't really have anything else.

xoxo,
Crystal
